Style Editor: Create a style from a MIDI File
Download this MIDI file: aHardDaysNight.mid.
Go to menu Window => Sequencer => Main.
Go to menu File => Open MIDI File.
Find an d open a hard days night.mid
Click on Play.
Right click on the "lights" in the column under m on the left of the channels to hear each channel play solo.
You will notice that the melody is played on channel 1 and 2. Remember that because you don't want to include the melody in the accompaniment.
The bass is palyed on channel 5, the drums on 10 as usual and other accompaniment is on channel 3 and 4.
Go to menu Window => Style Editor.
Click on Style Wizard. Click on OK and load a hard days night.mid.
Now remove the melody channels.
Specify an X anywhere in column 1, do the same in colum 2.
Click on OK.
Go to menu Window => Live and play the style with different chords and variations.
This is an automatic generated version of the style.
Let's make it better.
Go to menu Window => Sequencer => Main.
Click Play and listen to the entire song.
There is an intro at bar 2, the verse starts at bar 3, there is a fill in at bar 10 the bridge starts at bar 27 and the ending is from bar 82 thru 89.
Go to menu Window => Style Editor.
Click on Style Wizard, say No to "Save Style" and say Yes to "Continue editing".
Change the values in the template according to the picture below.
Save the template, you may want to apply some changes later.
Click on OK.
Go to menu Window => Live and play the song.
Go to menu Window => Style Editor and save the style.
